CzynszOK on your phone: add it to your home screen

· 3 min read

Yes, you can add CzynszOK to the home screen of an Android phone or an iPhone and open it like an app, with no app store. Below are the steps for both phones, what you get, and how we make sure everything works on a phone.

Before you start

The option to add it shows up on the page with your certificates ("My certificates"), not on the home page. First sign in with the code from your email (you do not create an account or a password) and open that page. Once you have a certificate, you also see a card there, "Add CzynszOK to your home screen". Not sure yet what a tenant certificate is? See the tenant certificate guide.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open czynszok.pl in Chrome and sign in with the code from your email.
  2. Open "My certificates".
  3. Tap "Add to home screen" on the card, if Chrome shows it. Or open the browser menu (three dots) and choose "Install app", or "Add to Home screen" when that is what you see.
  4. Confirm. The CzynszOK icon appears on your home screen.

iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open czynszok.pl in Safari and sign in with the code from your email.
  2. Open "My certificates".
  3. Tap Share (the square with an arrow), scroll the list and choose "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap "Add". The CzynszOK icon appears on your home screen.

On iPhone the added app has its own browser storage, so the first time you open it you may be asked for the code from your email once more.

What you get

  • an icon on the home screen and a window without the browser bar, so CzynszOK looks and opens like an app,
  • it opens straight on the list of your certificates, in the language you chose (Polish, English, Ukrainian or Belarusian),
  • a copy of your certificate on the phone: if the certificate has already been opened with signal, the phone keeps a copy and shows the QR code without signal too. The landlord checks the status live, so the landlord's phone needs signal.

It is the same site as in the browser, opened in its own window. You install nothing from a store.

How we look after the phone side

We design CzynszOK for the width of a phone first (390 px), in light and dark mode, and only then for larger screens. On every code change:

  • end-to-end tests run in a browser on a phone-sized screen (an iPhone 13 profile),
  • a separate test makes sure the public pages, this one included, do not scroll sideways at 360 px.

A test that fails fails the check. This is a phone emulation in a browser, not a test on many real devices. How we protect your bank data and what else we check on every change is on the Security page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to install CzynszOK from an app store?

No. You add the site to the home screen from the browser: in Chrome on Android, in Safari on iPhone.

Why do I not see the add option on Android?

Chrome offers it on the "My certificates" page when it decides the app can be added. The card "Add CzynszOK to your home screen" disappears after "Not now" and inside an app that is already added. The "Add to Home screen" entry in the browser menu stays.

Does the QR code work without signal?

If the certificate has already been opened with signal, the phone keeps a copy and shows the QR code without signal. The landlord checks the certificate status live, so the landlord needs signal on their side.

Does adding it to the home screen change anything about my data?

No. It is the same site in its own window. We still read your bank data once and delete it after computing, as always.
